Swipe At Govts.: Unsustainable Progs. Are Worrying; Show Clear Determination- Awuku

NPP National Youth Organizer, Sammy Awuku has taken a swipe at all Ghanaian governments, whether incumbent or in-waiting to show clear determination in solving the countrys unemployment situation. According to Sammy Awuku who spoke with Moro Awudu on The XYZ Breakfast show this morning, relentless war must be waged to support the youth and youth unemployment to take them out of the shackles of poverty. The practice of churning out you touch, you leave unsustainable programmes which he said has resulted in several abortion babies because every government wants to be credited with a certain baby that they left behind must stop. Sammy said, I also think successive governments [have not helped], the NPP introduced the NYEP errrh unfortunately we could not have the legal backing to it. Then when the NDC also took over, I was thinking that they will show determination in helping solve the unemployment issue and also helping give some constitutional backing. Every government wants to be credited with a certain baby that they left behind. Thats why we have lots of abortion babies in terms of programmes that we have. So they also came up with GEEDA. GEEDA did not also get a legislative backing. So now we have YES. So that kind of you touch, you leave, you touch, you leave unsustainable programmes are worrying and I think governments should show clear determination whether future NPP government or current NDC government or future PNC government or future CPP government, [they] must show clear determination and relentless war must be waged to support the youth and youth unemployment to take them out of the shackles of poverty. We also need a proper mentorship programme for the youth Mr. Awuku also stressed the need for Ghana to chart the entrepreneurship course to the fullest and stated that he doffs his hat for young men and women who have decided to pursue entrepreneurship in Ghana because its not easy. I think the way to go for Ghana is entrepreneurship. I celebrate young men and women who have decided to take their destinies into their own hands, the risk involved to start-up businesses, but today if you even start up a business and the managers of the economy are not able to manage the economy well, your money will go down the drain, Sammy added. He has also chided successful businessmen and women who have constantly cited busy busy attitude as an excuse towards effective mentoring programme of the youth of today who wants to venture into entrepreneurship. Whats also missing at a point is the mentorship. There are successful businessmen and women who are supposed to also mentor the up and coming entrepreneurs; I wouldnt say they make, but they create the impression they are so busy to the extent that sometimes offering just an hour of their time to share knowledge and experience is missing. So the people will have to go through that same culture of failures, ups and downs before they get there, but when you have a proper mentorship programme, where start-up businesses have mentors that they look up to, because they have travelled that path; they will [say you] know, look, where youre going youll have a problem. The NPP national youth organizer also passionately spoke about banks and financial institutions who demand financial statements from start-up businessmen and women. He believes is one of the main bane of discouragement for the youth to enter into entrepreneurship in Ghana. Also another difficulty that the youth, to me face, you get into the banking system or financial institutions and they say go and bring your financial statement. For start-up business? For goodness sake, the person has no money in the account. Its an indirect way of saying that, look Im not ready to support you, he passionately complained. Sammy Awuku is one of the young politicians in Ghana who have been villified for series of harsh comments hes made about politics in this country on different platforms. However, this is another side of him which perhaps, many didnt know.
