Justice Senyo Dzamefe, Chairman of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry investigating the participation of the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup has revealed that, 1,287 World Cup match tickets went unused at the competition. The chairman pointed out this to the former Minister of Youth and Sports, during his appearance at the commission on Monday, August 25. This follows the inability of supporters to watch the second and and third matches against Germany and Portugal, leading to the massive waste of tickets. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, the former Minister of Youth and Sports was answering questions over the circumstances that compelled supporters to watch two of Black Stars matches on the screen in the camp, though they were supposed to be at the stadium. According to the former minister, he was informed that, the aircraft that was to convey fans to Fortaleza for the second match against Germany, had a cracked windscreen and therefore could not embark on the trip. He added that, though he was given the needed assurance that, supporters will be conveyed to Brasilia for the third match, similar challenges with the aircraft denied them the opportunity. Afriyie-Ankrah said, he was devastated when he had the information that, the supporters could not travel to Brasilia for the third match. Asked whether he suspects sabotage in the process, he responded �there were some aspects of the drama that does not make sense to me�. He however noted that, there was the need to study the situation critically and take the necessary legal steps against those in charge of the aircraft. Afriyie-Ankrah however noted, that he was responsible for the challenges encountered in Brasil but added that, there was the need to identify specifics and deal with them because there were sub-committees in charge of other sectors.
