August 29 Must Be Declared As Public Holiday In Honor Of Nana Akufo Addo

We the members of Citizens Awake Forum (CAF) would like to appeal to the President, H/E John Mahama to set aside August 29 as a Public Holiday in honor of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo. The proposed holiday in honor of nana Akufo Addo should be dubbed as NANA AKUFO ADDO, THE PEACE MAKER HOLIDAY We have observed that the critical decision that was taken by Nana AKUFO Addo in the landmark controversial election Supreme Court ruling by Atuguba clearly shows that Nana Akufo Addo is a man of Peace. Nana Addo sense of tolerance, patience, courage and pragmatic sense of urgency has created a conducive atmosphere of peace to Ghanaians today. Undoubtedly, the international communities, religious bodies and civil societies were all amazed at the manner Nana Akufo Addo urged his followers to accept the verdict which was delivered by Atuguba The members of Citizens Awake Forum believes that if there is any public holiday worth celebrating, then it must be 29 August dedicated in honor of Nana Addos commitment to peace. Nana has shown that he is a selfless leader, man of peace and a leader you can trust. Nanas commitment to peace and democracy has made Ghana gained a huge respect in Africa. He has contributed more than his quota in making Ghana a role model for the rest of the continent. Nana Addo decision has sent a signal to the ruling party (NDC ) and its leadership that we can use our wisdom, knowledge and energy to fight without the tools of war as they did in 2008 by sending thugs with bombs, cutlasses, truncheon, acid to destroy the peace that Ghanaians were enjoying. This lesson is not only to the NDC but to the entire world to learn from Nana Akufo Addo. We were not surprise that the Queen of England nominated Akufo Addo to lead a team of observers to South African to monitor their elections. Nanas patriotic service to Ghana, his fight for the ordinary people, commitment to peace, vision to transform Ghana, role model and a symbol of hope for the youth of Ghana, we believe that if there is any Public holiday worth celebrating, it is not the Founders day but rather August 29 as Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, the peacemaker holiday. Long live Ghana!
