A former Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports under the Mills administration, Mr Nii Nortey Duah, has advised members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to not join the crowd complaining about the current economic challenges in the country. Rather, he has asked them to channel their energies and resources into explaining the matters better to Ghanaians who may not have much insight into the issues on the ground, to save the image of the party. According to him, if party members failed to pass good comments about the government, it would give a lot of people the chance to do same, and added that that was not expected of a true party faithful. �Ghana is not the only country experiencing challenges. All over the world, countries are experiencing some of the challenges Ghana is going through,� he said last Saturday at a workshop organised by the United Cadres Front (UCF) of the NDC in Accra. Cadres conference Held on the theme: �Revitalising the party executive structures for effective mobilisation,� the workshop was used to discuss issues bordering on the principles of the party and the need to elect the right crop of leaders to guide the party into capturing power in 2016. It was also used to deliberate on national issues and the need for members to be committed and protect the interest of the party. Additionally, the conference was used as a platform for the executive to officially announce their intentions of contesting the upcoming constituency, regional and national executive elections of the party. Communiqu� At the end of the conference, a communiqu� was signed and issued by the National Chairman, Mr Kofi Aikins and the General Secretary, Mr Felix Efanam Nyaku. The two-page communiqu� asked delegates to the upcoming election to be vigilant and vote for only those who were interested in the general good and principles of the party. �It has been noticed for some time now that some members seeking positions within the party from constituency to national levels hardly do so for the love of it as a family, rather, for their personal gains. �This canker which hitherto was alien to the party has unfortunately gained currency. This is the time for us to identify such elements and flush them out of the system,� it said. Threat to national security It also condemned outright a statement reportedly made by Kofi Dokyi, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) activist during last week�s misunderstanding at the NPP headquarters. The communiqu� stated that Mr Dokyi reportedly said on Citi Fm�s Eye Witness News that what happened at the NPP headquarters portrayed how angry their members had become, and that should anybody dare to rig the election in 2016, �this country will be set on fire.� For this reason, the leadership of the UCF called on the National Security to quickly invite Mr Dokyi for interrogation. Education fund An aspiring Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Mr Bright Stephen Akwetey, said the NDC was growing and needed to institute policies that would go a long way to help members of the party.
