We Are Not Aware Of Any Court Injunction Elections Will Go On NDC

The Greater Accra Regional Branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that they will go on with their constituency elections despite an injunction from An Accra High Court. The court, presided over by Mrs Justice Barbara Ward Acquah placed an interim injunction restricting the Greater Accra Regional National Democratic Congress (NDC) from holding elections for various positions in the party. The ruling also restricted the regional executive committees of the party from selling, receiving, endorsing nomination forms or doing anything required for the organisation of elections in the party from the constituency to the regional level. The writ was filed by Mr. Bossman Oduro-Fosu against the NDC for flouting paragraph 6 (c) vi of the partys constitution which states: In addition, a member of the party shall not qualify to vie for a regional executive committee position unless the member has prior to seeking elections held an executive position in the constituency. But reacting to this news in an interview on Citi FM, Mr. Anthony Nukpenu, Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the NDC said they were not notified when the writ was filed in court; therefore they will go on with their elections as planned. According to him, Mr Oduro-Fosu is a faceless individual who is not known by anybody in the party and so they (NDC) are not going to take him serious. He said until we hear anything different from our lawyers, the elections will continue. Plans are far advancedwe read it in the media. We did not receive any written judgment or injunction. As a political movement, we were never served any writ of summons to even appear in court. The report sounds so ridiculous that somebody who claims to be a party member will go to court to seek an injunction without addressing the party to be part of it he (Oduro-Fosu) is not a serious party member; if he was, he would know the processes involved before going to court. From next week, we are going to conduct our constituency election in Greater Accra; we are not part of this suit Mr Nukpenu stated.
