Ghana To Open Free Gates For Black Stars Clash Against Uganda

A massive crowd is expected at the Kumasi Sports Stadium on Saturday when Ghana play Uganda in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as gates will be open for free for fans to attend the game. This is the latest charm offensive being undertaken by the authorities to woo supporters back to support the Black Stars in the wake of their disappointing performance at the 2014 World Cup. Tagged as the bid to thank Kumasi fans for their massive support for the Black Stars during the World Cup qualifiers, supporters of the national team will be allowed to watch the high-profile international game for free. The king of the Ashantis, Otumfuo, also joined in the bid on Thursday when he urged fans to come out in their number to support the team despite the failure at the World Cup. The regional minister and the countrys sports minister met GFA officials on Thursday over fans for the match and have agreed to open the gates for free to ensure massive support against the Cranes. We have decided together with the sports minister and the Ghana Football Association to open the gates for the match for free, Ashanti Regional minister Dr, Sarpong said. This comes after fans openly displayed their angER over the teams performance at the World Cup which led to some moves to appease the fans with captain Asamoah Gyan publicly apologising for the teams showing at the World Cup. The Black Stars skipper engaged fans with talks to encourage them to support the team in the match while officials have visited several radio stations to appeal to fans to support the team. The opening of the gate will ensure that the stadium will be packed to the rafters that will also intimidate the visiting team.
