NDC MP: Joe Ghartey's Withdrawal Could Be "Suicidal" In The Near Future

The Member of Parliament for the La Dadekotopong Constituency has stated that the stepping down of one of the flagbearer contestants of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a grave mistake that will cost him dearly. Hon. Joe Ghartey, MP for Essikado-Ketan announced he will no longer contest for the flagbearer position in the NPP come October 18, 2014 after the Super Delegates Congress. But to Hon. Nii Amasah Namoale, it is a miscalculation that will prove costly in the near future. This is the same thing Alan Kyeremateng did in 2007 and he is now suffering for it. Alan could have won easily in 2007 but chose to bow out, he said. The La Dadekotopong Law-Maker made these comments during a panel discussion on NEAT 100.9 FM , on the presidential candidate race of the NPP. Hon. Namoale further advised the biggest opposition party to endeavor to go about the events in the lead up to the Delegates Congress devoid of intimidation and violence so as not to further deepen the cracks in the party. Though he is not a member of the NPP, he was of the view that the endorsement of various candidates by leading members of the party is wrong because it has brought nothing but division. He, however, maintained that Hon. Joe Garteys decision to withdraw from the contest could prove to be suicidal in the long run.
