The New Crusading GUIDE can confirm that contrary to media reports of a huge pay off to former Black Stars Coach, Kwasi Appiah, the Contract he signed entitles him to only 3 months salary as compensation according to a copy of the contract this paper has been able to intercept. The Former Ghana Coach was sacked on Friday and the aftermath of this action has seen several rumors of a huge compensation package he is entitled to, with some media houses even claiming that the GFA will have to cough up as much as $876,000 to settle the Coach. However, this paper can state on authority that, the assertion is not the case and that all that the Contract guarantees the Coach is a compensation, equaling three months of his salary! It is also not true that the Contract that existed between the GFA and the Coach provided no room for unilateral termination. Indeed the contract provided a room for any party, be it the GFA or the Coach to terminate the contract at anytime it desired, without giving reasons to the affected party, as long as a three month notice was provided or a three month salary in place of the notice. The relevant section of the Contract that deals with this is clause 11. Clause of 11 which states; �Notwithstanding the provisions of clause 9.0 and 10.0 herein above, either party may terminate this Agreement by giving a three (3) months written notice to each party or in lieu pay three (3) months� salary� Clauses 9.0 and 10.0 deal with conditions under which the contract could be terminated without providing notice or compensation and the date the Contract was supposed to have expired, respectively. Find below the full sections of the Contract which deal with the termination of the Contract. 9.0 Termination without Notice 9.1 The Association may terminate the Coach�s employment without any compensation and without prior NOTICE where the Coach is ; 9.1.1 Found liable by any competent authority for an offence involving dishonesty, possession, use or application of illegal or prohibited drugs or substances 9.1.2 Found to have behaved in such manner that the continuous employment of the Coach is likely to bring the Association into public ridicule or the Coach�s behavior negatively affects the image of the Association or brings his job into disrepute 9.1.3 Found to have fundamentally breached this agreement occasioned by (i) Refusal or failure by the Coach to act in accordance with his obligations under this agreement as directed by the Association (ii) Breach of the Coach�s obligation as to confidentiality as stipulated in this agreement 9.1.4 Unable to achieve the following agreed milestone; (i) Fails to qualify the Black Stars for AFCON January 2015 (ii) Fails to win the AFCON January 2015 10.0 Termination Due to Effluxion of Time This agreement shall terminate automatically without notice on 31st July, 2016 11.0 Termination with Notice Notwithstanding the provisions of clause 9.0 and 10.0 herein above, either party may terminate this Agreement by giving a three (3) months written notice to each party or in lieu pay three (3) months� salary� The New Crusading Guide can also confirm that the gross salary of the Coach was some $38,000 and thus he will be expected to take a gross compensation of $114,000 (before tax). Since the GFA foots all salaries of National Team coaches, this compensation is expected to be borne by the Football Association and not the Taxpayer as variously rumored. Lawyers of the GFA and Kwasi Appiah are expected to meet this week to settle all issues relating to the termination of the Contract.
