Black Satellites Still Owed Qualification Bonus

Chairman of the Black Satellites management team, George Kwesi Afriyie has revealed that the Black Satellites are yet to receive their qualification bonuses after making to the finals of the African Youth Championships in Senegal next year. Mr. Afriyie said this when he appeared at the Justice Dzamefe Commission of Inquiry on Friday. The Black Satellites beat Gabon 4-1 over two legs for their fourth consecutive appearance at the African Youth Championships but it seems they have not rewarded for their good work. My Lord, there are two outstanding qualification bonuses that have not been given to the team. The amount owed is $4,000 each per player. He was asked by the Commissioners to get further documentation on the bonuses and present them at a later date. The Black Satellites will be competing with Congo, Ivory Coast, Mali, Nigeria, hosts Senegal, Zambia and South Africa for the title. He went further to state that the financial situation of the Black Satellites team could be improved if a portion of the sponsorship package given to the Black Stars were given to the junior teams. We could also us the Black Stars as the cash cow and say that, if a company is sponsoring the Black Stars, a percentage should be given to the U-17 and the U-20 because without those junior teams, there would be no Black Stars. I believe that should be a policy for the people in charge of football to think about.
