Herbert Mensah Meets With All Black Greats

Mr. Herbert Mensah, President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, met with two of the all time greats in world Rugby Julian Savea and Ma'a Nonu on a recent visit to Dublin, Ireland. Wikipedia describes the players as follows. Julian Savea was named the 2010 IRB Junior Player of the Year. Savea was the star of the IRB World U20 tournament, scoring eight memorable tries in three games, He scored four tries in one match against Samoa and two each against Wales and South Africa. Savea featured on the right wing for New Zealand in the 2010 World U20 tournament. On 9 June 2012, Savea scored three tries on his debut for the All Blacks against Ireland in the first test at Eden Park. He is the first All Black to score three tries against Ireland in a test match, and just the fourth to score three tries on his All Black test debut. Nonu has been known for his blonde-streaked dreadlocks and former penchant for wearing eyeliner on the field. He is equally well known for his explosiveness and powerful attacking runs and regularly breaks the defensive line at will and for his dangerous tackles. 2011 World Cup-winning All Blacks coach Graham Henry has described him as "probably the best linebreaker in this game in this country." Nonu has been noted to possess a similar attacking skillset to former All Black centre Tana Umaga. Like Umaga, he is an exceptional crash ball runner who excels at breaking the line and creating space for outside backs. In 2005, Henry described Nonu as "young Tana," underlining the impression that he was being groomed as a potential successor to Umaga. This comparison has been confirmed in recent times by Wayne Smith. According to Mr. Mensah it was a great honour to have met the two greats and described Julian Savea as probably currently the best winger in world Rugby today. He continued that although Ghana Rugby had some way to go he hoped that one day Ghanaians would become as relevant and famous as these All Blacks.
