GFA Fails To Furnish Commission With List of Beneficiaries of $577,500 Appearance Fee

The Ghana Football Association is yet to provide to the Justice Dzamefe Commission of Inquiry the supposed list of beneficiaries of the $577,500 World Cup appearance as requested by the inquisitorial body last week, Ghanasportsonline.com can confirm. A source close to the Commission has told Ghanasportsonline.com that the GFA have failed to submit key documents including the list of people who took part of the management appearance fee and the letter sent to FIFA by the GFA before the commencemnt of the commission's sitting. Ghanasportsonline.com can reveal that, the commission has sent a reminder to the GFA demanding to have a copy of the said documents before a deadline date set in the reminder letter. During his appearance before the Commission last week, the President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi claimed that more than 20 people including some staff of the Ministry of Youth and Sports benefited from the $577,500 appearance fees paid to the 7 management committee members of the Black Stars at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Giving evidence before the Justice Dzamefe Commission in his second appearance, Mr Nyantakyi stated that five out of the six Black Stars Management Committee members who were in Brazil, comprising Moses Armah, Yaw Boateng Gyan, Felix Ansong, Kwame Ofosu Bamfo and himself actually shared $165,000, while the remaining $412,500 was shared by many others, including FA officials and staff, and Ministry of Youth and Sports officials. Nyantakyi who applied the co-efficient formula in explaining how the $577,500 appearance fee was obtained and shared by management during the Black Stars Brazil 2014 World Cup campaign failed to provide the list of the supposed beneficiaries of the amount and was subsequently tasked by Justice Dzamefe to furnish the commission with the list. "The Ghana Football Association was supposed to furnish the commission with at least five documents but they have provided us with only two and the remaining include the list of beneficiaries of the management appearance fee and the letter sent by the GFA to FIFA before the commencement of the commission's work," PRO of the commission Thomas Boakye-Agyeman told Ghanasportsonline.com "Apparently, these two letter are the most key documents we require to proceed on that so we have sent a reminder to them to provide them before a deadline stipulated in the letter". Despite the fact that only five management members went to the FIFA World Cup, the GFA presented a list of seven members to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for payment. The GFA capo sought to explain that anomaly saying a coefficient of seven was chosen based on Ghanas previous participation in the World Cup.
