Customers who deposited sums of money with Back to Jesus Microfinance Company at Suhum have appealed to the police and the public to help trace the Managing Director of the Company, Rev. Ababio, who has bolted with their savings.
Opanin David Kumi Aboagy, a customer from Dokrotsiwa and Madam Felicia Korkor, a customer from Kuano, told the GNA that two years ago the managing director and some workers of the company came to the Ayensuoano District and appealed to people, especially traders and farmers, to open accounts with the company.
They told the people that after three months they would qualify for a loan to expand their farms and improve upon their businesses.
Opanin Aboagy said since the manager was a Rev. Minister, the people in the community were happy and sold their goats, sheep, fowls and others sold their farm produce and deposited the money with the company.
He said after three months, anytime they went to the office of the company they were told the manager had travelled to Europe to bring them money for loans.
Opanin Aboagy said since February the office had been closed and the manager and staff could not be traced.
When the landlord of the office of the company, Madam Evelyn Opoku was contacted, she confirmed the story and said, the company had ceased operation for the past one year and that a lot of people had been coming to the office daily to demand their money.
She said, the manager and workers had stopped coming to the office and has therefore reported the case to the rent control officer for the recovery of her room.
