NIB Increases Its SME Threshold

The National Investment Bank (NIB) has increased its threshold from GH₵50,000.00 to GH₵200,000.00. This was disclosed by Mr. John Asamoah, General Manager for Client Services, NIB, at the launch of this year�s SME Banking week celebration in Tema. The launch, which was aimed at promoting the bank�s SME products and services and deepening the Bank-Customer Relationship, took place on Monday, October 13, 2014at the Fishing Habour branch of the bank. According to Mr. John Asamoah, General Manager him, this adjustment has been made because the bank has acknowledged the efforts of its SME customers. The bank, he said, has also improved credit delivery services, and established an SME centre at its head office solely for SME activities. In light of this, SME procedures will now take 24 hours instead of the current 72 effective, November 1, 2014 The week-long celebration which is on the theme, �Taking SME Business to Your Doorstep� is dedicated to SME business. This, According to Mr. John Asamoah, General Manager for Client Services, is to give credence to the suggestion that SMEs are the backbone to a nation�s economic growth. According to Mr. Ernest Mawuli Agbesi, Managing Director, NIB, as part of the celebration, the bank is going to dedicate a day to equipping its SME customers with proper book-keeping skills. This, he said, is in a bid to help them sustain and expand their businesses. He said without it, business owners run the risk of wasting money and missing out on opportunities to expand. The bank has also partnered with Quality Link Company Limited, a n electronic appliance dealer to sell electronic appliances to the bank�s customers on hire purchase and at the normal price. The bank will pay the interest rate on the items. Also present at the event was Nii Adjei Kraku II, paramount chief of the Tema Traditional area.
