Ghana's President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has once again given the assurance that the country will do its possible best to ensure that not a single case of the dreaded Ebola virus is recorded in the country irrespective of the fact that the disease is currently giving West Africa in particular and Africa in general a bad name. According to him, Ebola has transcended national boundaries and should no longer be seen as a West African disease, adding that this demands massive international cooperation to curb the spread of the virus. He was addressing an international business community breakfast gathering in London as part of his four-day official visit to the United Kingdom. The event was put together by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and the Royal African Society in London, and sought to let the international community know more about the investment opportunities in Ghana. Turning his attention on why investments are safe in Ghana, President Mahama touted the country as the best destination to do business saying despite the current challenges, Ghana's robust economic fundamentals support growth and development as witnessed in the partnerships created with other governments and the private sector. He added that the political stability and peace the country has enjoyed since a return to democratic rule in 1992 makes it a trail-blazer on the African continent. "Ghana is ranked seventh on the Mo Ibrahim Index on Governance, and I know we have all it takes to make investment achievable," Mr. Mahama noted. Present at the meeting were leading government officials and state appointees including Mrs. Mawuena Trebarh, Chief Executive Officer of GIPC; Mr. Victor Smith, Ghana's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom; Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Minister of Trade and industry; Ms. Hannah Tetteh, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Felix Kwakye-Ofosu, Deputy Minister for Communications; Mr. Fiifi Kwetey, Minister of Food and Agriculture; Mr. Seth Terkper, Minister of Finance and Dr. Raymond Atuguba, Secretary to the President.
