Mahama Ayariga Ordered To Produce World Cup Budget In Two Weeks

Sports Minister, Mahama Ayariga has been ordered to within two weeks furnish parliament with the total cost spent by the nation on the Black Stars at the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil. Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma North, Justice Joe Appiah asked the Minister of Youth and Sports to tell Ghanaians how much money the state spent on the this years FIFA World Cup, which ended in a fiasco. To which the Minister answered that informing the house of the total cost would amount to interfering with the work of the Presidential Commission established to go into similar matters. Thus, he recommended that Parliament waits for the commission to finish its work, so that he can later give parliament a copy of the commissions report. The MPs who were not satisfied with the answer however debated over it causing First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ebow Barton Odro to rule that the cost be produced in two weeks to the legislative body.
