You Cannot Enter Parliament 'Naked' (AUDIO)

Managing editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has bemoaned the attire Ghanaian Legislators wear in parliament. According to him, it does not depict the Ghanaian culture. Members of Parliament (MP) usually wear a suit and a tie for the men whilst the women wear suits or a decent kaba and slit. Anyone in a local attire will be prevented from entering the house of parliament. You will be told you are naked. The ones we are copying hardly wear three piece suit to Parliament, he said and wondered how we are going to promote the Ghanaian culture with such strict dress codes. Kwesi Pratt was speaking to the controversies surrounding the new chamber of Parliament. Ghanaian legislators resumed sitting in their new chamber furnished by a company in China. Many of the MPs have already expressed their displeasure of the newly-purchased furniture and other accessories in the new chamber. To add his voice to the debate, Kwesi Pratt said the new chamber is too colourful and that unlike the old chamber, the new one has no motif depicting the rich Ghanaian culture.
