Man Rejects Chinese Baby

Ebenezer Antwi, a resident of Dansokrom in the Western Region, has rejected a Chinese baby boy his wife delivered on Wednesday. Antwi, 27, and his fiance Tiwaah, have reportedly dated for two years now. Tiwaah got pregnant about 10 months ago and delivered a baby boy who looked like a Chinese. A traditional birth attendant, who attended to Tiwaah during her labour, dismissed the suggestion that the baby is an albino. The woman told reporters in an interview that Tiwaah might have been impregnated by a Chinese galamsey operator who came to do mining activities in the village. Antwi recalled that Tiwaah was a friend to one of the Chinese guys who had vacated the village long ago. Newsmen who visited the town had wanted to take shots of the baby but Tiwaahs family prevented the attempt. The family again urged her to decline any interview with the media, adding that the family would cater for the child. Meanwhile, Antwi on the other hand, refused to be recorded but revealed that he had been taking care of Tiwaah since she got pregnant. Although doctors had not proven whether or not Antwi is the biological father of the child, he had threatened to sue Tiwaah for compensation. Some residents were heard saying that Tiwaah was dating a certain Chinese called Ming Chu, who was reportedly living at Wassa Akropong. Antwi is completely upset over the matter.
