Ghana Rugby Club Championship Dished Up Exciting Rugby In Accra

The second round of league matches of the Ghana Rugby Club Championship (GRCC) 2014/15 came off on Saturday November 8th on the Accra Rugby pitch in Legon with Accra Sharks and Tema Anchors kicking off the first game of the day. This was the second round of games from Pool A with clubs from Greater Accra. Both Teams forfeiting their earlier games, were hoping to turn around their fortunes. Accra Sharks opened the scoring with the first try of the half, holding Tema Anchors off till the end of the half. The second half started with Tema Anchors scoring successive tries and working their way back into the game and eventually winning the game by 20 points to 13 Speaking to the media after the game, the coach of Tema Anchors, Mr. Patrick Eduakwa said that, �It was unfortunate that they (Tema Anchors) had to forfeit their first game, but they are working hard to iron out all kinks to ensure that it does not happen again�. He was really elated by the fighting spirit showcased by his boys on the field of play and eventually carrying the day. The second game of the day was between Cosmos Buffaloes and Idas Sports, Champions of last season�s Rugby League. This game was by all standard a very tough one for both teams especially Cosmos Buffaloes. Idas Sports RFC opened the scoring with a penalty kick that was awarded them. Cosmos Buffaloes quickly responded by scoring a try. It was �The Cosmos Show� from then on showing off their athleticism by scoring one try after another and having a 90 percent conversion rate in the game, the highest so far. Idas Sports RFC had two more penalty kicks converted without scoring any try. Cosmos Buffaloes won the game emphatically by 34 points to 9 Speaking to the media the man of the match, Hamza from Cosmos Buffaloes, stated emphatically that, �No one is stopping us from winning the coveted league title this season.� He further went on to thank God for giving him the strength, agility and tactical brilliance he shows in each game and he is humbled by the faith his coach Amuzuloh Salim always has in him.
