Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan insists the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations must be staged despite fears over the spread of the deadly Ebola virus.
CAF are pushing ahead with their decision to organize the tournament at its originally scheduled dates despite Morocco pulling out as hosts.
The continental football governing body is now in the process of finding a new host for the competition despite fears it could lead to the spread of the deadly virus.
But Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan in contrast to the position held by many African players to postpone or cancel the tournament, insist the competition must go on as planned as steps are taken to find a cure for the deadly disease.
�This is the time we need to support and see how to cure the disease [Ebola],� he said.
�If our brothers, our neighbours are having this problem, this is the time we need to support them and not to neglect them.
�For me, I think the African Cup should proceed, it has to be played whether in Morocco or anywhere.
�I heard stories about cancelling the tournament and I don�t think it is a good thing to cancel the tournament.
�What I think is we should just support the countries that have been affected by the disease and to move on.�
