NDC To Hold Elections In Four Regions Today

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) will round up its regional congresses in four regions on Saturday. So far, six regions including the Northern, Upper East, Brong Ahafo, Western, Ashanti, and Eastern have completed their congresses. Four regions; Greater Accra, Volta, Central and Upper West Regions will have their turn on Saturday. General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia speaking on the Eyewitness News on Friday, was happy that the party is done with six regions without any difficulty adding that tomorrow [Saturday] God willing we will be completing the full cycle of ten regions. Court Injunction Regarding the various court cases which have stalled the partys election in some regions, Asiedu Nketia denied that a member of the NDC in the Brong Ahafo Region had dragged the party to court. He said: As far as we know in Brong Ahafo Region, there has never been any such injunction and so we went and did the election and ever since the election were held, we have never seen anybody coming to serve us with any injunction belatedly or citing us for contempt for anything. He further explained that, in the Northern Region there was a restraining order from court with two positions. He said they proceeded to do the election without the two positions and we are in court dealing with the matter. As soon as we are through with it, we will proceed and hold the election for the two other positions, as well as another position that was annulled because of some technical errors committed on the printing of the ballot paper. The NDC General Secretary further explained that in the Eastern Region, the case in court has to do with the election of a constituency chairman in Akropong. He said affected persons were advised to stay away and allow those who were not affected to organize the election. Meanwhile, the NDC is yet to set a date for its National Elections.
