Ghana To Host 2nd International Agrofood Fair

All is set for the second edition of Agrofood and Plastprintpack West Africa slated for the Accra International Conference Centre from December 2 to 4, 2014. Exhibitors from 11 countries will present their latest innovations to highly professional visitors, who can also attend a seminar on packaging and food safety facilitated by the German Technical Cooperation (gTz). �Agrofood and Plastprintpack West Africa is an ideal forum for international producers and traders in the food and agro sector to establish business contacts. And it is the perfect venue to share knowledge and experiences on the potential and challenges of the West African and Ghanaian agricultural sector,� the German Ambassador to Ghana, Dr Ruediger John, said in a message. The leading international trade show is organised by the German trade show specialist, Fairtrade, and supported by the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce (AHK) in Ghana. �Representatives from industry and politics have already confirmed their participation in the official opening ceremony on the morning of December 2,� the Chief executive of fair organising specialists, Fairtrade, Mr Martin M�rz, told the Daily Graphic in an interview. He explained that agrofood West Africa was focused on agriculture, food and food technology, while plastprintpack West Africa, focused on plastics and printing and packaging solutions and materials. �We, the organisers, are delighted to welcome notable exhibitors from countries, namely Austria, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Italy, Ivory Coast, Korea, Lebanon, Switzerland and Turkey. They will present their latest innovations to highly professional visitors from Ghana and other ECOWAS countries, such as Nigeria, Senegal and the Ivory Coast,� Mr M�rz stated. The gTz Ghana seminar on �Packaging and Food Safety in the Ghanaian Agriculture and Food Industry� is slated for December 3, 2014 and it is expected to attract free-of-charge participation from professionals in industry. According to the organisers, three main topics to be discussed are �Post-harvest handling of commodities and food products�, �Food processing and packaging� and �Implementing international standards in the food industry�. The speakers represent the following organisations: Agricultural Engineering Services, Blue Skies Limited, Food and Drugs Authority, Food Research Institute of Ghana, Ghana Standards Authority, HPW, Institute for Packaging, Nestl�, Peelco Fruits, SmartCert, Traque, Unilever and Yedent.
