Information available to this paper indicates that there are subtle attempts to enstool new chiefs and elders in Oblogo and Menskrom, though the two communities have one substantive chief. According to information gathered, the development if allowed to materialise will spark another bloodbath in Oblogo after the death of their late Chief, Nii Kwaku Bibini, who was assassinated in broad daylight. Today discovered a popular chief [name withheld for now] was behind all these machinations and was even accommodating the yet-to-be installed chiefs in his residence ahead of their coronation. According to our sources, the move is against the ruling by the Judicial Committee of the Ga Traditional Council on February 5, 2011 which ruling underpinned that the Chief of Oblogo, Abraham Kwatei Quartei, the Oblogo Mantse (Nii Oblogo Lante II) was still the legitimate chief. The ruling was given by a three-man panel led by Nii Dodoo Nsaki II, Nii Ayikai III and Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III in a case brought before them by Joseph Aryee Laryea and one other against Kwaku Djin (Kwaku Bibini) who was enstooled as Oblogo Chief whilst Abraham Kwatei Quartei was still in office. According to the said ruling, �the panel observed that the two chiefs were enstooled on different dates in the same town. The first Chief, Nii Oblogo Lante, should be properly destooled before anything else.� ��. the Stool is for one occupant and unless there is a vacuum, no chief should be enstooled,� the court ruling added. The ruling also went on to state that �having regarded the above statement, the Defendant (Nii Kwaku Bibini) herein is hereby restrained perpetually from holding himself out as Oblogo Mantse.� Today has also chanced upon a letter signed by the late Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Tawiah III, on February 25, 2011 after the hearing of the case. The letter, according to our sources, was written on behalf of the Ga Traditional Council and copied to the Inspector General of Police (IGP,) Regional Commander, District Commander-Kaneshie, District Commander-Odorkor, District Commander-Weija and the District Chief Executive-Weija, restraining the James Town Divisional Council from interfering in the Ga Traditional Council�s ruling on the matter. According to the letter from the late Ga Mantse, �the James Town Divisional Council cannot act outside the legal authority of the Ga Traditional Council to subvert a ruling given by the Judicial Committee as clarified under Sec. 29 (1) of the Chieftaincy Act, 759 of 2008, and if they do so they will be in obvious contempt and any action necessary by law would be pursued against it.� Meanwhile, the chief and elders of Oblogo have opposed strongly the decision to install a new chief in the area. They further revealed that during the installation of Abraham Kwatei Quartei as Oblogo Mantse, a full delegation from the James Town Ngleshie Stool led by Ataa Atoe, a linguist, who carried the Staff Office of the Ngleshie Stool accompanied by Ayitey Konko, were present to grace the occasion. The two took the oath of office to usher in Abraham Kwatei Quartei as the new chief.
