Deputy Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson maintained that government utilised the $1 billion Eurobond judiciously. Contrary to claim that it used to to pay off debts owned the Bank of Ghana, he said the proceeds were used for infrastructural projects. Minority in Parliament in a news conference today said they have enough evidence that the $1 billion Eurobond secured by government in September this year was used to clear debts owed to the Bank of Ghana. The Minority spokesperson on Finance, Dr.Anthony Akoto Osei said evidence from the Bank of Ghana's monthly monetary survey reveals the money was absorbed by the Bank to settle part of government�s indebtedness. Dr Akoto Osei therefore challenged government to provide details on what the Eurobond was used for. But Mr. Ato Forson on Asempa FM�s Ekosii Sen Tuesday said the Minority in its bid to score cheap political points are confusing the issues. "The Minority is confused and I am surprised at those suppose to know bette" he stated. Ato Forson expressed shock at the conduct of the Minority spokesperson on Finance, Anthony Osei Akoto whom he says is supposed to know better.is �I am very surprised because the person who chaired the Minority�s meeting knows that there is a big difference from what they are insinuating. The cash is actually in the coffers of government and not the bank of Ghana as they are speculating. The Deputy Finance Minister also denied the Governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr. Kofi Wampah was under pressure. �In fact there is no pressure on the governor as purported� he noted.
