Socrates Sarfo Replies Hammer On Sale of ECG

Ghanaian filmmaker, Socrates Sarfo has indicated that it would be out of place for anyone to call for the sale of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to a private company to operate.

The ‘Hot Fork’ movie-maker in an interview with Abrantepa on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, Brunch2Lunch said, in spite of the energy crisis that has plagued the country in recent times, selling the country’s provider of electricity services is not the solution.

“It’s not about selling it. We don’t need to sell ECG. We need to sack the leaders there and call for applicants who have ideas as to how to manage it. Then we interview them live on television to know their proposals for dealing with the issue so we employ the best and hold him accountable should the fellow fail”.

Music producer and the brain behind ‘The Last 2 Music Group’, Edward Nana Poku Osei popularly known as Hammer, in a Facebook post had blamed the erratic power supply in the country on the human resource mindset thereby calling for the sale of ECG.

However, Socrates objected saying, “They always increase the rate in the name of improving the services; yet, the situation keeps worsening. So can’t Hammer who proposed the sale of ECG think of the fact that we have always been lied to? One day, we would sell Ghana because we can’t have good leaders”.
