Ghana Capable Of Winning The Trophy Nyantakyi

Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has said the Black Stars are capable of winning the 30th edition of the  Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

The Stars managed to beat Guinea in the quarter finals of the competition last Sunday, to book their fifth consecutive appearance at the semi-final stage.

The Stars will meet host nation Equatorial Guinea on Thursday, February 5, at the Estadio De Malabo, Malabo.

Nyantakyi said that  though the GFA did not give the coach a specific target, they had so far demonstrated that, they are capable of winning the trophy.

“We asked them to come and do well and so far, I can say that they have done very well by qualifying for the semi-finals of the competition. I am satisfied with their performance so far and I believe with the needed motivation, they will make the nation proud.”

According to Nyantakyi, the players are aware of the task ahead of the team and motivated to go beyond the semi-finals.

“In the past two tournaments, we have always ended at the semi-finals and this is the time for us to go beyond that stage by beating Equatorial Guinea. We have sat down and analysed the situation and it is purely psychological so the technical team has been tasked to deal with it.”

Nyantakyi said head coach Avram Grant is aware of the challenge and will provide the players with necessary weapons to scale through to the finals.
