Black Stars Are Not Playing For Money Afriyie

George Afriyie, Chairman of the Management Committee of the Black Stars, has said the players are not focused on money, but how to win their matches in the competition.

“The players are not playing for money. They have no problem with bonus, because all issues about money had been resolved in Ghana before we came.

“The players have told me they are not interested in how much is given or what is given to them. All they are interested in is to win matches and nothing else.

“The boys are very focused and ready to break the jinx that surrounds fifth matches at the Africa Cup of Nations.”

Commenting on the availability of captain Asamoah Gyan, he said they were yet to get details of the medical report after the player was flown to Mongomo for further examination.

He said the outcome of the medical report will determine whether the player will play in the next game against Equatorial Guinea or not.

“The player was flown to Mongomo yesterday because that is the only hospital we can access the facilities to examine him.

“He is expected back by the close of Tuesday so we are all waiting anxiously for the outcome, he added.

Afiyie was however, hopeful that Ghana will overcome Equatorial Guinea with or without the captain.

He said that, the team was made of quality players who are also hungry for success and any of them selected for the match will be able to deliver.
