Asamoah Gyan's Exclusion From The Team Will Be A Blow To Our Fans - Maxwell Konadu

Black Stars Assistant Coach Maxwell Konadu believes Asamoah Gyan’s absence in today’s crucial Semi-Finals clash with Equatorial Guinea will be a huge blow to the team.

Gyan is set to miss today’s big game against the host after suffering a hip injury in the team’s 3-0 win over Guinea last Sunday.

The Al Ain striker could be missing his second game in the tournament having undergone a scan on Tuesday.

Konadu has therefore admitted Gyan’s imminent absence would serve as a major blow to the team as they face the host at the Nuevo Estadio de Malabo.

“He is the Captain of the team and he is one of the most important players we have,” Konadu said at a press conference in Malabo.

“His exclusion from the team will be a blow to our fans and everybody,” he added.

“His colleagues will wish he was around to take part but just in case he cannot make it, we still have to move on but he is such an important player to us,” he concluded.

Striker Jordan Ayew could earn a starting role to pair up-front with Kwesi Appiah should the Black Stars captain fail to make a late recovery.
