President John Dramani Mahama, has congratulated the Black Stars for their heroic performance at the Africa Cup of Nations.

In a tweeted message moments after the match, the President said he was proud of the Stars despite losing to their opponents in the final.

President Mahama said the team had exceeded every one's expectation and described them as heroes after they were considered among the least favourites going into the competition. 

President Mahama's tweeter message read: "Kudos Black Stars. Gallant performance despite our loss. You exceeded our expectation, going from zero to heroes, I am proud of you".
