"Self-Inflicted Integrity Deficit"...Ayarigas Communication Is Becoming Questionable Says Baako

Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, has slammed Sports Minister, Mahama Ayariga for refusing to disclose the budget for the Black Stars during the just ended African Cup of Nations.

The Minister told Kwami Sefa Kayi on PEACE FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, that the only place he can disclose the budget is Parliament, or in a report filed to the Auditor General.

The Minister also spoke on other issues including airlifting supporters to Equatorial Guinea where the just ended AFCON was played.

Analysing Mahama Ayariga’s comments in the interview, Kweku Baako Jr said he (Ayariga) failed in his communication.

According to him, the Minister could have used the opportunity given to him on Wednesday morning to redeem the image of Sports Ministry especially following the Brazil debacle by being transparent in disclosing how much was involved in the tournament.

The quality of Mahama Ayariga’s communication is becoming questionable…I like him as a person but…” he noted and added that the issue of the budget is a simple matter for him to have been able to respond to.

Whatever the amount was could have been disclosed; but as for the accounting, you can only do it after expenditure. What was the big deal in announcing (the budget) to Ghanaians especially when questions were being asked and against the backdrop of Brazil saga. What do you lose? Indeed you gain in the name of transparency…

…First of all, you refused to disclose the amount which created a certain suspicion which is unnecessary and needless. I don’t see why this self-inflicted integrity deficit that the Minister has inflicted on himself…I will call him personally to advise him that he failed in terms of communication and in that process he will let people raise questions that otherwise would not be raised,” Kweku Baako said on Wednesday's edition of 'Kokrokoo'.
