Agents In GFA Match-Fixing Scandal Sanctioned By Ethics Committee

The Ethics Committee of the Ghana Football Association has handed a three-year ban to FIFA agent Christopher Forsythe after inducing a match-fixing allegation on the FA last year.

The Committee on Thursday ruled that the player agent will thus have to be expelled from his Footballing activities for the next three years after months of investigation.

The Committee described Forsythe’s action as unethical hence asked for his FIFA player license to be rescinded immediately.

He [Christopher Forsythe] has also been asked to distant himself from organizing any football matches at any level for the next three years and was also prohibited from holding any executive position in any club.

Meanwhile, his associate Obed Nketia, CEO of Berekum Chelsea was castigated to serve as a warning to individuals who may be tempted to act unethically to the detriment of others.

A statement released by the Ethics Committee of the Football Assocition on Thursday reads: "Considering the evidence before us, we are of the view that Mr. Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association did nothing untoward in the alleged match fixing arrangement".

"We accordingly absolve him of any attempt or preparation to do any match fixing or of any improper conduct"

Forsythe and Nketia were alleged to have engaged in a conversation last year June after they were captured in a video discussing about way and manner by which they have engaged in match fixing involving the Black Stars.

The two were later seen in a video with FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi discussing on how to fix friendly matches for the Black Stars.

The Ghana Football Association had earlier reported the matter to FIFA but was later told by the World Football governing body to handle the case locally.
