I 'm Not Scared - Says New Sports Minister

Newly appointed Sports Minister, Maj. (Dr.) Alhaji Mustapha Ahmed (rtd) says he is not scared of the kind of pressure at the Sports Ministry.

President John Dramani Mahama reassigned the former Minister for Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga to the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation causing the Ayawaso East MP to take the mantle.

Ghana's Sports Ministry has seen two different Ministers in the last year; Mahama Ayariga was appointed Sports Minister after the Black Stars Brazil debacle in the 2014 World Cup that saw the reassignment of Elvis Afriyie Ankrah.

Few hours after his appointment as the Sports Minister, the MP for Ayawaso East who is also a member of the Sports Committee in Parliament received a lot of congratulatory messages from friends and family members most especially the media but he said he is not scared with pressure at the Sports Ministry.

“I know that the Sports Ministry is one of the toughest Ministry, but am not scared with kind of pressure there, most especially from the media”, he said on Asempa FM’s Sports World.

The MP hails from Bawku in the Upper East Region and married with three children.He holds BDS (UGMS) 1983 and a Dental Surgeon. Hon. Ahmed worked at Highway Dental Clinic, Mamobi-Accra as Director before he became an MP.
