Motorbikes For Cuban Doctors

The United States of America (USA) Branch of the Tiyumba Youth Association has donated registered motorbikes with certified clash helmets, to some Cuban doctors working at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. The motorbikes, worth over GH6,000, were purchased with contributions from members of the association based in the USA. Presenting the items to the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. Yussif Mohammed, on behalf of the USA members, said the gesture was to facilitate the movement of Cuban doctors offering medical services to the people of the region. Mr. Yussif assured the Northern Regional Coordinating Council of the Associations resolve to offer more support to the region, in the health and education sectors, as part of its social responsibility. He, however, complained about the conflict situations that had polarized the region, and regretted its consequences on socio-economic development. According to him, northerners living in the Diaspora, who had intentions of coming home and also inviting potential investors to do businesses in the region, found it difficult doing, so due to the volatile nature of the area. Yussif Mohammed thus appealed to the youth of the region, to consider formal education as their major priority, and refrain from allowing certain individuals or group of persons to use them in meeting their selfish and parochial interests. Mr. Stephen Sumani Nayina, Northern Regional Minister, on behalf of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, commended the Tiyumba Youth Association, USA Branch, for its support, and promised that the motorcycles will be put to good use. He urged other concerned citizens of the region living in the Diaspora, to emulate the shining example of the Tiyumba Youth Association USA Branch, by contributing towards improving the living conditions of the suffering masses back home.
