KKD Faces 7-Member Jury Today

Embattled Broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwa (KKD) is set for court this morning to continue proceedings of the alleged rape charge leveled against him.

KKD will for the first time face a seven member jury established by an Accra High court expected to determine the fate of popular broadcaster who is standing trial for rape.

The Finest Production CEO is facing the law for allegedly raping 19-year-old Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson at a hotel washroom on December 27, 2014. He has, however, denied the charge insisting that their sexual encounter was consensual.

After several court appearances prosecutors and KKD’s lawyer in an Accra Fast Track High court presided over by Justice Bright Mensah, state prosecutors asked for more time in order to constitute a seven-member jury to hear the case and determine the outcome during the last court hearing on March 18 2015.

The case was therefore adjourned to today Wednesday April 22.

Meanwhile, KKD's lawyers have secured a court order directing the Nyaho Clinic in Accra to produce, within 14-days, the report of a medical examination conducted on the alleged victim after the incident and the High Court also ordered the police to furnish KKD's lawyers with details of their findings so far.

The court hearing today will go a long way determine KKD fate.
