Accra Hearts of Oak yesterday held traditional rivals Great Olympics to a goalless draw in their week 14 First Capital Plus top liner at the Accra Sports Stadium.

For the first time since the 1990’s, the two teams drew a large crowd to the Accra Stadium as many who, for years, had not watched the local game, joined the party.

The numbers, including those on vehicles, were so many that a lot of drivers were held to ransom as traffic towards the stadium moved at a snail’s pace.

And when the two teams were ushered into the game by referee J. A. Amenya, Hearts looked more purposeful and kept running at the Olypmics defence but the homesters held the Hearts attackers, led by Eric Kumi and Gilbert Fiamenyo, at bay.

Referee Amenya nearly marred what was seen as a thriller in Accra in recent times, with some very controversial decisions amid boos from fans of both sides.

The tempo of the game, however, wore on, with some threatening runs by both teams until the 14th minute when Hearts Eric Kumi’s shot at goal missed the post narrowly, with only goalkeeper Richard Kingson to beat.
