NPP Weija Boils Over Late Submission Of Forms

As the New Patriotic Party continues to vet parliamentary aspirants, a Constituency Chairman for the party has called on the National Executives to ensure that the process is immediately halted in the area.

The screening of New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirants started on Monday, 4th May 2015 and is expected to come to an end on 7th, May, 2015.

The party has put in place a constituency vetting committee made up of the constituency chairman of council of elders, electoral and research officer in the constituency, an elderly woman in the constituency and a representative each from the regional and national offices of the party.

Mr. Samuel Ofori Ampomah, the NPP’s Chairman for the Weija- Gbawe constituency, has revealed on Peace FM midday news that the area currently sits on a time bomb; following a directive from the Regional Chairman to his subordinates that the forms of two parliamentary aspirants, should be rejected.

According to Mr. Ampomah, the affected candidates have petitioned the party and raised legitimate concerns which need to be carefully examined by the National Executives.

Out of four aspirants who were to submit their forms, three, according to the Constituency Chairman had monetary issues. But he claims the Regional Chairman for the area only called one person out of the three aspirants to quickly make amendments and submit his forms for vetting.

This move is said to have angered the other two aspirants who later paid their debt but had their forms rejected by the committee in charge.

Mr. Samuel Ofori Ampomah claims the move is creating problems in the area and needs to be addressed quickly.
