No One Received GHC5000 for attending NPP Meeting

A parliamentary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ablekuma Central constituency, Ebenezer Nii-Narh Nartey has dispelled rumours that participants of last week’s steering committee meeting of the party were awarded cash prizes.

The NPP member argued that participants only attended the meeting as part of their regular activities for the party.

“It is never true anyone was given GHC5000 for attending the meeting, it is never true, ask John Boadu or Sammi Awuku who attended and they would confirm what I am saying…,” he stated.

Speculations are rife that the nine executives of the party that attended the controversial meeting were given GH5000 each as sitting allowances.

But this rumour, he said, are only being spread by political opponents of the party as a means of adding insults to the injuries of the party which has courted negative media reports for organizing a steering committee meeting in the absence of its chairman and secretary.

Reacting to these reports, Nii-Narh Nartey called on General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong to pay heed to an advice from political science lecturer, Dr. Amoako Baah for him to re-examine his human relations.

The lecturer in an interview on Asempa FM on Friday called on the NPP scribe to learn from the likes of Asiedu Nketia who refuse to discuss internal party matters in the media.

And this advice, he said, is perfect for the former press secretary to the President who is said to be nursing Presidential ambitions.

“He must heed the advice and ask himself why everyone is always talking about Kwabena Agyepong…some of his utterances indeed give him away so he must be careful…,” he said.

He further claimed executives of the party has the right to hold meetings in the absence of the two adding that that is only when they form a quorum.

To him, it is a non-started for Kwabena Agyepong to claim that the Presidential candidate cannot file his nominations to contest the 2016 elections without his signature.
