Ghana winger Andre Ayew has been named the best African footballer in the French top-flight for this season which means he will pick up the 2015 Marc Vivien Foe award.

The Marseille ace beat competition from Ivorian Max-Alain Gradel (Saint-Etienne) and Tunisian defender Aymen Abdennour who plays for Monaco.

Ayew who was a member of the Ghana side that lost to Ivory Coast 9-8 on penalties in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations final – was picked by a jury of journalists.

Ayew will receive his award on Monday evening by Radio foot International on RFI (Radio France Internationale).

The 25-year-old – whose contract at the Stade Velodrome expires in the summer – pipped Gradel, and Abdennour, to the prestigious title.

He replaces Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama who won the award last year after his exploits with Lille.

It is set to be the last thing he will achieve as a Marseille player as he has stated he is leaving the club at the end of the season.

Ayew has scored ten goals this season and helped Marseille to fight for a qualification to Europe as they lie fourth on the table.

Ayew scored 10 goals in 27 appearances for the French giants this campaign.

Ayew, whose younger brother Jordan was also at Marseille before leaving for Lorient at the beginning of the season, has attracted interest from several English clubs including Newcastle, Swansea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool.
