Death Of Alhaji Mahama; Police Hunt For Accomplice

The Police have intensified their search for Asabke Alangdi, one of the two persons alleged to have poured acid on the Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),  Alhaji Adams Mahama.

The second suspect, Gregory Afoko, has already been arrested by the police and transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Accra.

Alhaji Mahama was returning home in his car from the office at about 11 p.m. last Wednesday when the two allegedly flagged him to stop.

Thinking it was members of his party who had official issues to discuss, he stopped, only for the two to pour acid on him.

He was rushed to hospital but died later.

Thorough investigations

The Homicide Unit of the Police CID took over the investigations and dispatched a team of detectives to Bolgatanga to conduct thorough investigations into the incident.

The team was accompanied by a pathologist from the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital who will investigate the cause of death of the deceased.

The police have reiterated its resolve to go to all lengths to arrest all persons involved in the incident and has appealed to the general public to volunteer credible information that will lead to the arrest of other accomplices.
