Stacy Amoateng Simply Changing The Game

Whether she is on television, at an event or out and about, she is always up to date with what she wears.
It is her passion for fashion that inspired the establishment of one of the leading boutiques in Ghana currently.

We all call her ‘Stacy’ but her real name is Anastasia Manuella Nana Akua Asantewaa Addae Amoateng.

From afar she looks like a celebrity who might not be approachable but the two hours chitchat with The Mirror on Tuesday afternoon revealed her humility and lovable character.

Asked how she landed on the name ‘Stacy’, which has dwarfed the name she was baptised with, she laughed heartily and explained that it was created for her when she was called upon to present TV3's Music Music.

"The programme being an entertainment one, they needed a very funky and sexy name because Anastasia was a mouthful. We generated several names from Anastasia and finally landed on Stacy", she said.

Interestingly, Stacy is not just a fashion diva but also a woman of many parts. She is into advertising, event organising, marketing; and social work to liberate women and children who have suffered domestic abuse. She is the Executive Director for Emklan Entertainment and CEO for Platinum Networks.

Apart from these tall list of events she executes, she currently hosts her own show dubbed ‘Restoration with Stacy’, which is in its second season, barely a year of hitting the screens.

Stacy's against abuse
According to her, "there are a number of organisations working on issues of domestic violence but I decided to further extend a helping hand in that field so I can help victims of abuse."

Just recently, she helped in raising ¢40,000 for a woman who appeared on her show to undergo plastic surgery at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

"The woman recounted her story of how she was brutally abused by her husband, resulting in a deformed face. This is simply pathetic because if you love somebody you don't pour acid on her face", she lamented.

"This is why I'm currently working on a project dubbed ‘Love Us Violentlessly’ (LUV). My aim is to go to the hinterlands to empower women and also move to the schools to empower both young girls and boys."

She explained that when a boy is empowered, he would not grow into an abusive husband, vice versa.

Why Restoration?
The name Stacy is associated with entertainment and showbiz, however it looks like the game has changed for her since she has a sudden passion for doing social work and working for God, hence the birth of her religious programme, ‘Restoration with Stacy’.

Touching on the motivation behind her current television programme, she disclosed that she had always had the God factor in her. "Although I'm now a Charismatic person, I was born, baptised and confirmed in the Methodist Church. I've been an active member of the Scripture Union, Sunday School and Youth Service."

She said Restoration is not a show but a ministry. Recounting her story, she said one day she was sleeping and suddenly saw some shadows while  standing by a river and sandwiched by two angels who were pouring oil on her. After this encounter, the call to actively do the Lord's work was reloaded.

This was a point in her life when she was seriously ill and nearly lost her life.

Life's journey
Before venturing into television, Stacy used to work for Daddy Lumba. Her core duties then were to distribute his records across the length and breadth of Ghana.

“I also handled his media relations job. In fact, it was fun working for Daddy Lumba because the distribution made me know almost all the regions,”she added.
