Ghana To Launch Age-Cheating Protest Against Congo

The Ghana Football Association are planning to launch a protest against Congo after the Black Meteors elimination from the CAF U23 Champions qualifiers. Ghanasportsonline.com has learnt. Ghana suffered a painful exit from the qualifiers to the maiden edition of the U23 Championships in Senegal after losing 5-4 on penalties to their Congolese counterparts on Sunday. Congo beat Ghana 1-0 in regulation time to take the game to penalty shootout which eventually saw an end to the Meteors campaign after defender Emmanuel Nti Mensah missed his kick. Information reaching Ghanasportsonline.com indicates that the management committee of the Black Meteors team has lodged a complaint to the FA over suspicion of age-cheating on the part of Congo, with the FA considering on making an official protest to CAF. It would be recalled that Congo coach Claude Ley Roy made a similar allegation after his side�s 1-0 defeat in the first leg in Accra. Ghana for the third consecutive time will not be making an appearance at the Olympics Games having missed the 2008 and 2012 editions in Beijing and London respectively. The Black Meteors last made an appearance at the Olympic Games in 2004 in Athens (Greece).
