CIMG Launches Its 2014 Annual National Marketing Performance Awards

The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) on last June 4, 2015 at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel, Accra launched the 2014 CIMG Annual National Marketing Performance Awards under the theme; The Future Of Marketing: Evolve Or Die to be held on August 15, 2015 at the Banquet Hall of the State House.

This being the 26th edition since the start of the coveted and arguably one of the most respected national and professionals’ awards schemes started in 1989, the launch of the 2014 edition has brought to focus the reasons for the success of this scheme for all these years.

Mr. Kojo Mattah and Dr. (Mrs) Shola Safo-Duodu the Vice President and the President of the CIMG respectively made it known that the Institute, through its stakeholders have been breathing life and freshness into the scheme through constant reviews and injection of new ideas to make the scheme relevant to corporate Ghana and the entire nation.

The choice of this year’s theme was dictated by the business/marketing landscape of the national and international environment which calls for serious and practical innovation for businesses and the economy to survive.

Mr. Mattah who is also the chairman of the Awards Planning and Selection Committee said that this year’s awards will be in six categories which are the Hall of Fame for companies that won awards in a particularly category for 4 consecutive years, Personalities, Media/Marcoms, Business, Product and Not-For-Profit organizations.

He also indicated that the Institute will be awarding two other awards that will reflect the spirit of the theme which calls for companies to be innovative; thus organizations will be awarded for the best E-Commence Company of the Year and Emerging Digital Media Organization of the Year in support of companies that are innovating in the digital/social platforms.

He mentioned a number of reputable institutions that partner the CIMG in the selection process so as to allow for an impartial and professional assessment of winners.

The organisations include, the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Ghana Advertisers Board, Advertising Association of Ghana (AAG), Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Institute of Public Relations, GIBA, PRINPAG, MOTI, MOT, GCCI MUSIGA etc.

Dr. (Mrs) Shola Safo-Duodu however reiterated the commitment of the CIMG to impact positively on society with the awards scheme. She thanked the stakeholders for partnering the Institute for the past 26 years and called on them to continue supporting a good cause.

She also emphasized the need for companies to be proactive in their business dealings and reminded all that success is no longer a random thing for corporate organizations; adding they have to plan and work for it as this is the only way that they can remain relevant.

She invited all stakeholders and corporate Ghana to continue to support the scheme so as to enable the institute promotes the ideals of the awards.

In their contributions as partners, Messrs Ato Micah and Philip Okullo Country Managers of Nielsen and Ipsos Ghana respectively expressed their delight in working with the CIMG to promote the marketing awards, adding that so much has been achieved and of immense benefit to both parties and corporate Ghana.

They expressed their willingness to continue to ensure transparency and professionalism that underpin the selection procedure and hope to carry on to partnering the CIMG going forward.
