NPP Primaries: Hawa, Abbey Steps Down

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Primary candidate at the Nhyiaeso constituency, in the Ashanti region, Hawa, has withdrawn from the ongoing elections.

Reasons for her decision are however not known.

According to reports, she has thrown her support behind the incumbent MP, Dr. Richard Winfred Anane.

Other candidates contesting for the same seat in the Nhyiaeso constituency Stephen Amoah, Ashanti Regional Communication team member and former Regional Youth Organiser, Kennedy Kankam.

In the Awutu Senya West constituency, Oppey Abbey has also stepped down.

In a statement, he has indicated that he is supporting George Andah, formerly with OccupyGhana who is contesting for the same seat.

“I wish to inform all my supporters, well-wishers, as well as the entirety of the NPP membership that I am throwing my full support behind Nenyi George Andah for the Awutu Senya West NPP primaries slot. Ghanaians, including myself, have to be more concerned about the fate of our country, rather than be concerned about our individual ambitions. My support for Nenyi George Andah is premised on the fact that having interacted and engaged with him and the delegates, I know he has the goodwill of the delegates and has consistently displayed the right leadership qualities needed to wrestle the seat from the NDC and improve the fortunes of our nation. Vote massively for George Andah,” Abbey, said in the statement.
