One Military Man At The Stadium Is Better Than 50 Policemen - Ex FIFA Ref Alex Kortey

Retired FIFA referee, Alex Kotey has indicated that, to ensure adequate security at match centres in Ghana, it is better to employ the services military men than having policemen at the stadia. The ex referees chief believes that rioting and hooliganism has increased at the various stadia in Ghana due to the lack of proper security measures at the centres, and has insisted that the solution to hooliganism is not the presence of policemen. Kortey claimed that, per his personal experience, he would suggest that the GFA employs the services of military men at the stadia rather than policemen. In his opinion, one military man at a match centre will be worthwhile than having 50 policemen. "I tell you, the people at these stadia are not afraid of policemen," Kortey said in an interview with GTV. "To me, I believe it is better to have one...just one military man at the stadium than 50 policemen. "I was in Sunyani for a game and the fans tried something nasty, the whole place was like hell even in the presence of over 50 policemen". "But immediately one military man arrived at the scene, everyone was running up and down for their life and that tells you the impact of having them at the stadium"
