Kotoko Beat 10-Man AshGold To Advance To MTN FA Cup Semis

Asante Kotoko continued their impressive performance in the MTN FA Cup after beating Ashanti Gold 2-0 to advance to the semi-final of the competition.
 
The Porcupine Warriors secured a ticket to the final round of the competition after a deservedly win over their regional rivals at the Babayara Sports Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Kotoko having dominated the early minutes of the game got their breakthrough in the 40th minute when midfielder Jackson Owusu powered in a shot from 20-yards.

Things became worse for the visitors after midfielder Emmanuel Osei Baffour was sent off in the 43rd minute following a verbally assault on center referee Prince Amoah for ignoring a challenge on him by Kotoko midfielder Jordan Opoku.

The home team finally got a cushioning in the 64th minute after right-back Atta Kusi took on a strike from the edge of the box to beat goalkeeper Osei Bonsu at his near post.

The result sees Kotoko advance to the next round of the MTN FA Cup competition where they will face  Aduana Stars who defeated Sekondi Eleven Wise 3-1 in Dormaa.

The Ghanaian Champions are on the quest to defend the title won last season.
