Only Nyantakyi Filed Nomination Forms for GFA Presidential Elections

Spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Saane Daara, has told Citi Sports that the President of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi, was the only person to have filed his nomination forms for the presidency elections of the association by close of day of the 17th of July.

The date was the deadline for all nominations for the presidency elections slated for the 18th of August in Tamale and Nyantakyi ,who is contesting as the incumbent, was confirmed by Saane Daara to have met the deadline while the other contenders, Ofeibea Ramatu and George Ankomah, could not submit their forms.

Speaking on Citi Sports Friday, Saane Daara stated that the process for filing nominations was not stopped or halted even though an Accra Fast Track Court granted an temporary injunction to John Quayson and Dymanic Heroes to stop the GFA Presidential Elections.

Saane Daara revealed that the GFA had not been officially served with the injunction so their offices functioned normally and thus, received nomination forms of the aspirants who were there t0 submit their papers.

One aspirant, George Ankoma said he had not submitted his papers due to the said injunction and was hoping to complete the process once the injunction was lifted.

The injunction granted by the Accra Fast Track High Court was done after Dynamic Heroes and John Quayson filed a case to stop the GFA’s Presidential Elections because, in their estimation, the elections were being held ahead of the district and regional elections and this was against the GFA’s Regulations.

Sources close to the GFA told Citi Sports that it was preparing its defence when it appears in court after the ten-day period granted in the interim injunction.
