Sports Fans Remember Late Prof Mills

Exactly 3 years today Ghanaians, Sports fans and Hearts of Oak faithful lost former president John Fiifi Atta Mills.

On 24 July, 2012, the late Professor Mills became the first sitting president to pass on in the history of the Republic of Ghana. His death happened just three days after he had turned 68 years.

Prof. Atta Mills was a true Phobian and due to his active participation in the activities of the club, he was appointed as the head of the management committee, but resigned after a month in the mid 1980’s.

He was appointed onto the Hearts of Oak board in the late 1989 and served on the board until his appointment as Vice President of Ghana.

The late President Mills also served as the Board of Director of the National Sports Council (now National Sports Authority) and was once the Vice Chairman of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).

He was also directly involved in Sports as a Hockey player and even played for the nation.
