Lions Beat Kotoko To Lift SWAG Cup

After losing out of the league title, Asante Kotoko on Sunday saw another opportunity to claim a trophy slip by, this time in the SWAG Cup match. Kotoko after leading the double header 1-0 from the first leg in Accra were stunned at their favourite grounds, the Baba Yara Stadium where Heart of Lions roared to a 2-0 success in 90 minutes. Lions scored in each half with Mohammed Tanko handing them the lead in 39 minutes before substitute Bright Nsiah to sealed the day with a fine goal two minutes from time. And for Lions coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin, a former junior team coach of Asante Kotoko, the SWAG success becomes his first domestic silverware in the top flight. The game which has come to be known as the �SWAG Match� is an annual event on the domestic football calendar and is played in celebration of the contributions made by the sporting media.
