CHIPS Compounds, Health Centres Well Equipped To Handle Patients- NHIA

Selorm Adonu, Communications Director for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), says Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHIPS) compounds and other Health Centres in far to reach areas across the country are well equipped to handle sick patients. He has therefore, directed all National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card bearing members who live in such communities where there are no private hospitals to make use of these facilities. The NHIA has directed all patients to private hospitals that have been accredited by the scheme following the strike action by doctors in the public hospitals. However, there is the possibility that the far to reach areas may not have private hospitals to cater for sick patients. It is in this regard that Selorm Adonu says patients in the far to reach areas can use the CHIPS compounds and Health Centres. He was speaking with Ekourba Gyasi, host of TOP FMs morning show YƐn NsƐmpa on Monday. In areas where private hospitals can be found NHIS accredited private hospitals have inscriptions on their bill boards indicating their accreditation and that will make easy identification.
