There Must Flexibility In The 40-Year Development Plan - K Agyepong

The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP], Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, says the 40-year development plan cannot be made to restrict the government in power on how to carry out the plans.

According to him, the long term development plan should be flexible in order for the government in power to give suggestions and strategies to achieve the national goal and vision stipulated for the country.

Speaking on the development plan on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, Kwabena Agyepong stated the means to achieve the target should be determined by the government in power as all political parties have different ideologies.

The NPP Chief Scribe insisted there must be certain parameters for the government under which its targets can be set.

He maintained that no government can be forced to toll a particular direction as maybe stated in the 40-year development plan; thus every government may have different approach to arrive at the same purpose in the long term development plan.

“In every plan, it must be flexible because you cannot use the plan to restrict any government to go 100 percent by the stipulated plan; there must be flexibility so that it can pave way for the government in power to come up with strategies and suggestions address the same national goal and vision”, he advised.

Endorsing the long term development plan preparation work, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong said any country which does not plan is doom but urged the National Development Planning Commissioners to change the way things are implemented with too much talking instead of working.
