An Accra circuit court presided over by Aboagye Tandoh, yesterday turned down the plea of Lester Ekow Micah�s lawyer to grant him (Micah) bail after the 43-year-old reggae musician had pleaded not guilty to being in possession of narcotic drugs.

Presenting the facts of the case, ACP Atibilla told the court that dreadlocks-wearing Ekow Micah of �Me Si Wu Hemaa� fame, who resides at Obojo near Kokrobitey in the Greater Accra Region, was on August 4, 2015 arrested by the Airport police for an alleged extortion, which is still under investigation.

ACP Atibilla further said that on August 5, 2015 at about 11:10 am the police, together with the accused, visited his place of abode to conduct a search.

He said in the course of the search a quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp (wee) were found concealed in the accused person�s back pack.

The prosecutor continued that Lester Ekow Micah, a popular reggae musician and President of the Music Council of Ghana, admitted ownership of the exhibit and told the police that he smoked the substance as a stimulant in his music career. Superintendent Yao Tetegah, the Airport District police commander confirmed to DAILY GUIDE that Ekow Micah was arrested after police had discovered that he was involved in the Asamoah Gyan sex tape saga.

He averred that during interrogation, Ekow Micah denied ownership of the exhibit but claimed somebody gave the substance to him for safe keeping.

Justice Aboagye Tandoh subsequently remanded the musician into police custody till 20 August, 2015 for further hearing.
